IND vs SA: Netizens slam Ruturaj Gaikwad for his ‘disrespectful gesture’ towards a groundsman during 5th T20I
The fifth and final T20I between India and South Africa was abandoned due to persistent rain at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday. Only 3.3 overs were bowled in the match, and in that period, India, after being asked to bat first, had managed to post 28/2 with both Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad in the hut.
Being a series decider, many fans expected a cracker of a game, but the continued drizzle ruled out all the chances of what could be a perfect match. However, more than the cricket action, there was one incident involving Gaikwad that grabbed the maximum eyeballs that left netizens fuming.
A video of Gaikwad went viral all over social media on Sunday, where he was spotted gesturing to a groundsman to maintain distance and looking the other way.
The incident took place during the rain break when Gaikwad was sitting in the dugout. The young India opener was approached by a groundsman for a selfie, but Gaikwad denied the request and was seen asking the groundsman to maintain the proper distance from him.
Here is the video:

“Very disappointed we didn’t get a full game for the end of an exciting tour. We started pretty well, pity we could not see the outcome. We can’t control the weather. I am sure the future series against India will be interesting like this one,” said Proteas stand-in skipper Keshav Maharaj after the game.
