Shamar Joseph runs out Rilee Rossouw in CPL 2024

In the 21st match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024, Guyana Amazon Warriors took on St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in an exciting encounter. After being asked to bat first, Guyana posted a competitive total which St Kitts and Nevis Patriots failed to chase.

Shamar Joseph runs out Rilee Rossouw

One of the defining moments of the match came in the 14th over of the second innings when Shamar Joseph pulled off a spectacular run-out to dismiss Rilee Rossouw. As Evin Lewis tapped a good-length delivery to the right of Joseph and called for a quick single, Joseph sprinted towards the ball, picked it up in one motion, and delivered a laser-accurate throw to the stumps.

Rossouw, who was slow to react, was caught short of his crease, with Joseph’s direct hit sending him back to the pavilion for just 11 runs. The sharp fielding from Joseph was a game-changing moment, halting the Patriots’ momentum.

Shimron Hetmyer powers Guyana Amazon Warriors to a decent total

Earlier in the match, Guyana Amazon Warriors’ captain Shimron Hetmyer led from the front, smashing 63 off 33 balls, including 4 boundaries and 5 towering sixes. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Hetmyer’s aggressive innings kept the Warriors in the hunt for a respectable total. His counter-attacking approach frustrated the Patriots’ bowlers, as he single-handedly pushed Guyana to 137/8 in their allotted 20 overs.

Ashmead Nedd was the standout bowler for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, picking up 4 wickets for 25 runs, but Hetmyer’s knock proved to be the backbone of Guyana’s innings.

Joseph’s heroics with the ball propels Guyana to victory

Joseph’s impact on the match didn’t stop with his fielding. With the ball, he delivered a brilliant spell, claiming 3 wickets for just 9 runs, completely dismantling the Patriots’ middle order. His bowling, combined with Moeen Ali‘s 2/9, restricted the Patriots to just 107, with Lewis’ 49 being the only notable contribution.

Joseph’s all-round brilliance—his key run-out and superb bowling—was instrumental in Guyana Amazon Warriors’ 30-run victory, solidifying their place in the tournament’s top ranks.
