CPL 2024: Quinton de Kock’s fireworks secure Barbados Royals’ victory over Antigua and Barbuda

In a rain-affected match at the Kensington Oval, the Barbados Royals emerged victorious against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons by 10 runs using the DLS method. After winning the toss and opting to bowl in Match 13 of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024, the Royals faced a challenging innings from the Falcons, who posted 176 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

The Antigua and Barbuda innings was anchored by Justin Greaves, who scored a solid 61 runs off 52 balls, including 8 fours and a six. Quinton de Kock steers Royals to victory

Royals’ chase was spearheaded by Quinton de Kock, who played a brilliant innings of 48 runs off 30 balls, hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes. Alick Athanaze supported him well with a steady 34 runs off 29 balls.

Despite some early setbacks, the Royals maintained a steady run rate and eventually reached 127 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 14.3 overs before the rain curtailed the match. The Royals were declared winners under the DLS method, securing a vital win in the tournament.

Quinton de Kock was named Player of the Match for his impactful innings, which laid the foundation for the Royals’ successful chase. The victory placed the Barbados Royals in a strong position as they continue their campaign in the CPL 2024.
