Australian superstar Ellyse Perry reveals her retirement plans and thoughts on the 2028 Olympics

Cricket is set to make its Olympic return at the 2028 Los Angeles Games, marking its first appearance since 1900. This historic comeback has generated significant excitement in the cricketing world, and among those eagerly anticipating the event is Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry.

“I don’t think I’m the kind of person that wants to pin a date on a retirement. I’ve never looked at it like that. If I’m still there and available and good enough, I’d like to be there. I haven’t set a target on playing at the Olympics, but if I’m still around and good enough, I’d absolutely love to be there,” Perry said.

Perry’s enthusiasm for the Olympics is fueled by her success at the Commonwealth Games 2022, where she won gold with Australia. She is excited about cricket’s debut at the Los Angeles Olympics after a 128-year absence and has backed herself to be part of the squad. Recent performances and career achievements

Despite a challenging start to The Hundred, where she was dismissed for a duck against Oval Invincibles, Perry showcased her resilience by scoring 65 off 48 balls, including one six and eight boundaries, against London Spirit. The New South Wales-born cricketer has an impressive record, having won several trophies in women’s T20 leagues, including the Big Bash League with the Sydney Sixers and the Women’s Premier League with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Additionally, she has multiple World Cup victories with the Australian national team.
