T20 World Cup 2024: Suryakumar Yadav humorously reminds Yashasvi Jaiswal about Rohit Sharma’s warning
Team India cricketer Suryakumar Yadav recently had some light-hearted fun at the expense of his teammate Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Instagram picture. The Indian cricket team is currently in New York, gearing up for the T20 World Cup 2024, which is set to be played in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA), starting June 1.
Indian Team’s arrival in New York
The Indian squad arrived in New York in two batches. The first group included captain Rohit Sharma and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, while the second batch comprised Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan and Jaiswal. Upon arrival, Jaiswal shared a picture of himself exploring the streets of New York on social media.
Suryakumar Yadav’s humorous dig
Meanwhile, Suryakumar couldn’t resist poking fun at his younger teammate’s post. He humorously commented on Jaiswal’s picture, indirectly reminding him of Rohit Sharma‘s notorious reprimand from a previous series. This dig referred to an incident during the England Test series where Rohit, frustrated with the fielders’ lackadaisical approach, shouted at them to stop wandering around like they were in a garden.

Rohit Sharma’s famous remark
Rohit’s ‘garden mein ghumna’ comment became famous during India’s five-match Test series against England. During the second Test in Vizag, Rohit was heard on the stump mic scolding his teammates for their relaxed fielding, insisting they stay alert and focused. This memorable dialogue, like many of Rohit’s, became an instant hit among cricket enthusiasts.
India’s preparation for the T20 World Cup 2024
The Indian cricket team has started their preparations for the global showpiece event. Placed in Group A, India will face arch-rivals Pakistan, co-hosts USA, Ireland and Canada. They will kick off their World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 5 in New York. India are aiming to win their first T20 World Cup since MS Dhoni led a young team to victory in 2007 in South Africa. In the last edition of the T20 World Cup, India exited in the semi-finals after losing to eventual champions England by 10 wickets.
