Twitter reactions: SRH survive Tim David scare to keep their playoffs hopes alive

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) kept themselves in the IPL 2022 playoffs race with a slender three-run victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) in Wankhede on Tuesday, May 17.

Though the triumph might not have given them a huge boost for the race to the knockouts, it did help top-order batter Rahul Tripathi prove his worth. While Tripathi top-scored for SRH with a 44-ball 76, MI’s Tim David gave the opposition a mini-heart attack with his lusty blows.

The 26-year-old David smoked 26 runs off T. Natarajan in the 17th over of the second innings and looked set to take MI home. However, in a bid to retain the strike for the next over, David ran a risky single and had to pay the price for it. He had to depart for a well-made 46 off 18 balls.

Experienced campaigner Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a sensational wicket maiden in the penultimate over and took the game out of MI’s reach.

Brief scores: Sunrisers Hyderabad 193-6 in 20 overs (Rahul Tripathi 76; Ramandeep Singh 3/20) beat Mumbai Indians 190-7 in 20 overs (Rohit Sharma 48; Umran Malik 3/23) by 3 runs.
