Jasprit Bumrah responds to claims of ‘advised bed rest at home’ over Champions Trophy participation
As the cricketing world gears up for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, concerns surrounding Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah have escalated following reports suggesting he has been advised to take bed rest due to ongoing back issues. The news has sparked discussions about his availability for the tournament, which begins on February 19.
Injury concerns for Jasprit Bumrah
Bumrah’s injury woes have been a topic of concern since his impressive performances in the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Despite bowling exceptionally well and claiming 32 wickets in the series, his workload appeared to take a toll on his physical condition. As per multiple reports, Bumrah experienced swelling in his lower back, leading to recommendations from medical professionals for complete rest until the swelling subsides.
“Bumrah could go to the CoE next week but right now there is no fixed date yet. He has been advised bed rest at home to help the muscles recover and the swelling to subside. Once that is done, future course of action will be ascertained,” said a BCCI source, as per TOI.
This statement underscored the gravity of Bumrah’s condition and the cautious approach being taken by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
